Innocence.

I can't sufficiently express how I feel looking at this because I'm overwhelmed both by pity for this small child as well as an admiration for the photographer, who has combined great skill in timing and in general artistic merit to produce this. This is an emotive portrait that's actually emotive; there's nothing that comes across as being false, or as out of place. It's just a simple, touching portrait, brilliantly done, which will stir emotion in whoever looks at it.

I have to admit that when I saw this, I was reminded of a famous photograph of the Norwegian actress Liv Ullmann (the muse of Ingmar Bergman) which may be found here: [link] This, incidentally, is the reason why although I grant a high rating for the vision, technique and impact, I award a 3.5 star rating for originality.
